Traffic Accident Reconstruction
Being successful at traffic accident reconstruction
requires extensive experience and skill in evaluating numerous factors
in a vehicular accident, including the vehicles involved, environmental
conditions, geography of the traffic ways and surrounding areas,
sight lines, effective laws and ordinances, and human factors.
NFC gathers evidence from all available sources
including police reports, photographs, medical reports, statements,
and inspection of the accident site and involved vehicles, when
they are available. Accurate scale diagrams are made of the accident
scene showing the geographical layout, with signage, signals and
sight-obstructing objects, allowing visualization of the accident
area. When evidence is available, these diagrams can also show the
direction of travel of vehicles and pedestrians, location of impact
and final resting places of the involved vehicles. The mechanical
condition and maintenance of the interior and exterior of involved
vehicles is assessed, as are roadway design and condition and the
ordinances relative to signage. When required, traffic signal timing
and sequence are also investigated.
From the physical evidence and vehicle damage
profiles, calculations can be made to ascertain the speed of each
vehicle prior to and during the accident sequence. Other determinations
can be made as necessary, such as time and distance (reaction time),
vehicle swerve-to-avoid, and acceleration and deceleration rates
of different types of vehicles. Sight lines for each operator and
the weather's effect on visibility, as well as the effect of alcohol
or controlled substances on the operators are also important factors
to be considered.
The experts of NFC are knowledgeable in the dynamic
characteristics of automobiles, motorcycles, buses, large trucks,
and tractor-trailers. We analyze all of the factors of the particular
accident and, with the appropriate calculations, draw the necessary
conclusions as to the cause of the accident, determine fault to
the extent possible, and ascertain whether or not a bodily injury
claim is appropriate.
Low impact accident analysis is an area of increased
focus within the insurance industry due to excessive fraudulent
claims. We can analyze the possible G-forces on vehicle occupants
in low impact accidents to determine whether injury is likely, based
on the minimal forces exerted.
Many insurance company SIU and CSU units have
enjoyed success in arbitration and court proceedings lately based
on expert testimony. Let us show you how we can help. |
